Look, history is unkind to politicians of most stripes. But when weakness and indecision come together in a man meant to lead, history can be the unkindest of all.
Like with Barack Obama.
Joe Lieberman just came forward and revealed Obama’s biggest mistake and history will judge him unwise indeed.
From the Washington Examiner:
“I think one of the big mistakes President Obama made was drawing that red line, saying if [Syrian President Bashar] Assad uses gas he will respond. He used gas, and we didn’t do anything,” Lieberman said.
“And that just invited a lot of the troubles that have happened since then. The world pulled back, including the U.S. under President Obama, let this country go wild…Assad could do whatever he wanted, Iran was already in there, increased its presence. They have tens of thousands there, and then Russia saw an opening and moved in.”
“Assad now thinks he can do whatever he wants to its people, including breaking that line of civil behavior and using gas,” Lieberman added.
Correct. All the major struggles with Democracy, especially in Europe, the press loves to whine about (and they are right to be wary of the rise of some authoritarian regimes) can be largely traced back to Obama and Syria.
Had Obama done something, anything really, just made a damn decision, the massive migration that threw Europe into chaos would never have happened.
It all goes back to a politician caring more about the polls and being weak in the face of an uncertain public who was totally lacking the true courage of his conviction that could have saved the say.
Say what you will about Trump, he has the courage to act on his convictions and history usually judges those Presidents as the wisest of them all.
