Former Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters front man, David Grohl, sent out some political jabs directed at President Trump in a recent interview with British GQ.
Grohl openly voiced his disgust for the President and admitted that he is “ashamed” of the President, despite his many accomplishments thus far. And he went on to discuss why he currently holds that political viewpoint, in which he went as far as to call Trump a “jerk.”
Grohl says during his world tour he, “felt the impact of Donald Trump in regards to what other countries feel about Americans?”
“Of course. I remember when we were touring in the Nineties, people would come up to me and still spoke of wanting to come to the US, to see Texas and see the desert, to walk around the Big Apple. The American Dream was still tangible, still desirable.
Today, the American Dream is broken. I’ve probably travelled internationally more than our current president and the one thing I understand that he doesn’t is that the world isn’t as big as you think it is. It is all in your neighbourhood. India, Asia, Iceland aren’t other solar systems. I am ashamed of our president. I feel apologetic for it when I travel.” Continued Below
Grohl upped the ante even more when he said, “Listen, who cares what I think about guns or religion, but the thing about Trump that stings the most is this: he just seems like a massive jerk. Right?
And by making such controversial statements, Grohl isn’t worried about what his fans will think, even if they have strong support for the President. He believes thinks they can “get over it”.
“I know a lot of wonderful people who don’t share my politics and you can bet tomorrow night in the stadium not everyone will share the same opinion or hold the same views. But when I sing ‘My Hero’ they will all sing it with me. In the three hours that I am on stage, none of that matters.”
Many Americans have shown indirect disgust by celebrities, such as Grohl, who use their fame to belittle the President. Last year Hollywood suffered a damaging blow at the box office (article HERE), and even a decline in awards show ratings (article HERE). Critics believe it could be a result of their aggressive Anti-Trump stance. If Grohl isn’t careful, he could be the latest to suffer backlash.
