On Wednesday, Chief Justice John Roberts issued a statement that was critical of President Trump’s recent attack on the 9th Circuit Court after they blocked the Trump Administration from barring immigrants who criss the border illegally. And Senator Chuck Grassley immediately fired back.
Trump initialy referred to the Northern California judge as an “Obama Judge” in his remarks, which apparently triggered Justice Roberts.
Roberts said in a statement, “We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges.”
He added, “What we have is an extraordinary group of dedicated judges doing their level best to do equal right to those appearing before them. That independent judiciary is something we should all be thankful for.”
Roberts’ rare political statement set Trump off, who responded to the Justice with a pair of tweets Wednesday evening and Thanksgiving Day, where he doubled down on his notion of “Obama judges” and stating that the 9th circuit court should not stand in the way of law enforcement keeping the country safe.
In the grand midst of it all, Senator Chuck Grassley lashed out at the Chief Justice for piping up against Trump, yet keeping his mouth shut when former President Obama openly attacked the Supreme Court during his tenure. See Below
In a Wednesday evening tweet, Senator Grassley took President Trump’s back against Justice Roberts when referenced a situation involving former President Obama and Justice Samuel Alito.
Grassley said, “Chief Justice Roberts rebuked Trump for a comment he made abt judge’s decision on asylum I don’t recall the Chief attacking Obama when that Prez rebuked Alito during a State of the Union.” See Below
Chuck Grassley’s Official Tweet Directed At Justice Roberts:

According to Breitbart, Grassley is referring to Obama’s 2010 State of the Union address, when he blasted Supreme Court justices over their ruling earlier that year “struck down restrictions on corporate political speech under the First Amendment.”
With 6 justices present, including Alito, Obama said the Supreme Court’s ruling “will open the floodgates for special interests, including foreign corporations, to spend without limit in our elections.”
Alito could be seen mouthing the words “Not True” and shaking his head.
Chief Justice John Roberts never once condemned Obama for his remarks that many critics said were highly disrespectful to the Supreme Court.
