Attorney General William Barr has officially made good on his promise and appointed a U.S. attorney on Monday to investigate the origins of the Russia investigation to determine if the FBI’s “spying” on the Trump campaign in 2016 was adequately predicated.
Barr appointed John Durham, the U.S. attorney in Connecticut, to conduct the inquiry.
Tuesday before departing to Louisiana, President Trump spoke briefly with the press and responded to the Attorney General appointing John Durham. Further, he ripped FBI Director Christopher Wray for distancing himself from the term “spying.”
The Commander in Chief was asked if he “told” Barr to investigate the investigators and Trump said that he did not tell the Attorney General to do it.
“I didn’t know it, but I think it’s a great thing he did it. I saw it last night and they want to look at how that whole hoax got started. It was a hoax! And even Mueller, not a friend of mine… even Bob Mueller came out… ‘no collusion’ and he had 18 people that didn’t like Donald Trump. They were Hillary Clinton fans,” he said.
Trump continued, “It was the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the people of this country.” (Continued Below)
President Trump praised William Barr for appointing John Durham and exclaimed, “I am so proud of our Attorney General– that he is looking into it. I think it’s great; I did not know about it!”
Trump also ripped FBI Director Christopher Wray after last Tuesday he told the Senate Appropriations Committee that Bill Barr’s use of the word “spying” to describe surveillance on the Trump campaign and administration was “not the term he would use.”
Wray also told the committee that he has no evidence of the Obama administration spying on President Trump. (Continued Below)
“I didn’t understand his answer because I thought the Attorney General answered it perfectly. I certainly didn’t understand that answer. I thought it was a ridiculous answer!” President Trump expressed of Wray’s remarks.
