On Thursday, President Donald Trump shut down CNN’s Jim Acosta at the White House after the reporter continually pressed the president over his knowledge of Lev Parnas.

The president denied knowing who Parnas is and said that he simply took a picture with Parnas at a fundraiser.

“I don’t know him. I don’t know Parnas other than I guess, I had pictures taken, which I do with thousands of people,” the president explained.

“I don’t know him at all, don’t know what he’s about, don’t know where he comes from. I know nothing about him,” President Trump continued.

The president went on to slam impeachment, saying, “I can only tell you this thing is a big hoax– this is the current hoax. We’ve gone through the Russia witch hunt, we’ve gone through a lot of them, from probably before I came down the escalator. But certainly, since I came down the escalator, you take a look at what’s happened.”

President Trump then suggested that Parnas is “probably trying to make a deal”, adding, “I don’t even know who this man is. I guess he attended fundraisers, so I take a picture with him. I’m in a room; I take pictures with people– thousands and thousands of pictures with people all the time. Thousands during the course of the year.” (Continued Below)

“I don’t know him. Perhaps he’s a fine man, perhaps he’s not. I know nothing about him. …. I don’t believe I’ve ever spoken with him,” President Trump continued.

As Jim Acosta kept persisting with questions about Parnas, President Trump told Acosta, “Quiet.”

“You just have to look at the pictures. You just have to take a look at the polls. You see, I don’t need anybody’s help.” (Video Below)

Parnas and his business partner Igor Fruman – both U.S. citizens who emigrated from the former Soviet bloc – have been indicted by federal prosecutors on charges of conspiracy, making false statements and falsification of records related to allegations that they made outsized campaign donations to Republican causes after receiving millions of dollars originating from Russia, reported Fox News.

In an interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, Parnas claimed that the president was contemplating cutting all forms of financial assistance to Ukraine in exchange for an investigation into Joe Biden, not just military aid– and, Parnas said, the plot had a clear political motivation.

Meanwhile, Marc Short, Chief of Staff to Vice President Mike Pence, said that Parnas will say anything to stay out of prison.
